Yeah I guess we'll see.  There may be more entrants, but the path itself is now considerably harder than ever before.  To me, more entrants just means more wash-outs.  Did anyone actually think Indiana or Boise State or Clemson or Arizona State or SMU had a real shot?

On the plus side, when the team sucks ass, it doesn't kill me like it used to.  So I guess there's that silver lining.  Can't feel the pleasure anymore, but can't feel the pain either.

Yeah I've commented many times that I'm headed down this path as well.  With each change, they've chipped away at a little bit more of what I loved about the sport.  Add to that getting older, shifting priorities, etc. and I just don't care as much as I once did.

That's one of the main reasons I really wanted the Horns to win it this year.  Because with each passing year, I care less, and eventually it really won't matter to me much at all.  Ultimately that's probably a good thing.

Not me man. I am a Horn that lives and dies with each years games.  I hope I never lose that feeling.

The Horns are probably 2 years away from another serious run for the NC

Im with them now and will be with them then

Yeah the team is in a bit of a rebuild mode for next season.  2026 is likely the next real opportunity for a deep playoff run.

That said, the schedule is pretty favorable next season, and with 12 teams getting in, a playoff berth next year isn't out of the question.  And, once you get INTO the playoff, for a talented team like Texas, anything is possible.

Im basing my opinion on having a green QB next year but there are pluses in that I think Arch is faster then Ewers and will turn out to be a better passer

I don't know if Arch will be a better passer than Ewers when he was at his best.  In that Alabama game in 2023, and even against Michigan in 2024, he was dropping dimes all over the place.

Unfortunately, whether it was the injuries or something else, we really didn't see peak Ewers at any point after the Michigan game.  He put together a good quarter or a good half here and there, but he was never the same after that first injury this past season.

That's all about decision making, and at this point, we don't know.  He's only played against scrub teams, really.  In his one outing against a team with a good defense, he looked as bad as, or worse, than Ewers.

But overall I think he'll be a good one for Texas.  It's just that ya never know.  Garrett Gilbert was all-world and was recruited by everyone, too.

Replacing 4 out of 5 OL starters, including the line captain Center. Going to need to see what the new chemistry is like.

One of the sports radio bloviators out of OKC was complaining that there were too many average teams in the CFP.

His solution? Expand the field to 16.

Eh, I’m not sure about any of the old way of thinking. Because with the portal, all of your developing players could be gone by 26. On the other hand, you could bring in a bunch of experienced starters.
