Yup.  This defense is so sugary soft and spineless, it's bewildering.

I have not watched them play much but I suspect that most of them have pretty much quit on the team. Maybe not fully quit, but nonetheless they are not playing at the level they should. This happened to A&M under Fran in 2003.

Sometimes the culture change is just too abrupt. I suspect that Sark brought an SEC style attitude in and it wasn’t received well.

Sometimes it can just be players reacting poorly to the schemes and not able to adapt to new philosophy.

I think it’s a very bad sign to start out this badly and then a double whammy next year starting sec play. Depending on the schedule it’s possible next year may be worse. But you never know, they could win the SEC in year 1 a la 1996, but I doubt it. Crazier things have happened.

I doubt Sark brought in an "SEC style attitide" whatever that is.  He spent two years at Alabama, and many more than that on the West Coast.

Yeah, that's a good one!

I don't think that the young lady behind the desk is from SEC country.  If she is, she does a great Yankee accent!

So I guess then he didn’t learn anything from coaching there?  Where did the assistant coaches come from?  It doesn’t matter much the reasons anyways. A losing season is a hard thing to overcome on the recruiting trail.

Despite a terrible o-line, the offense is scoring more than enough points to win most games.  Only Arkansas and ISU included offensive failures.

The defense is abysmal.  The DC is from the PAC.  Make of that what you will.

The Big 12 on Wednesday issued a public reprimand of the Texas Tech football radio announcers for their call of Saturday's 41-38 home win over Iowa State.

Play-by-play host Brian Jensen and analyst John Harris were critical of the officials during the game, going so far as to list off individual names.

so, Big 12 officials are just as bad as the Big 10 and SEC crews?

B12 officials are much worse than the SEC crews I've watched.  I don't really watch much B1G football so can't comment.

The only thing I've noticed about SEC crews, is that they tend to favor the higher rated team especially when it's a traditional power.  But, they've no doubt been instructed by the league office to do so, so I don't really hold it against their job performance.  If anything, they're QUITE good at doing precisely what the league tells them to do.

I also think it's weird that this is being highlighted as an issue.

The names of the refs of every single crew are always on the official conference box score of every game, they are usually mentioned at the beginning of any radio  broadcast, along with a personal blurb about their history as a ref, and their names are often repeated throughout a radio broadcast.  Also, their names are sometimes announced at the beginning and/or end of a television broadcast, as well.

That someone is bringing this up as an "issue" makes me believe the B12 office is flailing around trying to trump up support for a problem of their own making.

Agree.

If the Tech announcers did that, then throw the book at them.  But as far as I know, that didn't happen.

I haven't heard that it happened.  Just said their names, which is all publicly available anyway and reported out by the conference for each and every game in print and on air.
