Thus ends week 1’s most entertaining game (save for earlier in Boone NC):

probably worst end of game play I’ve seen in sometime. Why force the ball there? Wtf.

I kept saying that they should’ve run a QB draw with Rising on 1st and goal. Even if you don’t get the 6 yards for the TD- you have plenty of time to get lined up and run another play fast or even clock the ball quickly and figure something out for 3rd down. Worst case scenario you have to kick a shoe in gimme FG on 4th to force OT.

Utah really crapped the bed. It was shocking.

and the gators crapped their last possession giving Utah enough time.

the running back "trying" to go down and stay in bounds didn't try hard enough
then didn't need to score that quickly, wasn't 3rd or 4th down

Goddamn I'm excited.

McCarthy is gonna rock shit against a horrendous team. Jim is gonna get to make the QB change he wanted to, and I never again have to read moaning about Cade what's his name.

Gonna be great.

(And thankfully, it's basically impossible for JJ to do anything but be immaculate next week, so this can move off as a footnote and we can settle into other complaints. And then Cade can move on at year's end, possibly use one or both of the seasons he's got left available to him)

I can’t criticize UF too much.  They were in a weird situation where they had to score a TD but also wanted to burn clock.  That’s a tough balance to strike.

Top Ten - Who looked better than expected and worse?

1.  Bama - 0 meh
2.  OSU -  -1, offense was worse, D better, they won
3.  UGA -  +2, so far
4.  Clemson - NYP, probably 0
5.  ND -  +1, they hung in on the road better than I expected.
6.  A&M - 0
7. Utah - 0, sure, they lost, tough environment, could have won obv.
8.  UM -0
9. OU - 0
10.  Baylor - 0

I'm giving 0 for teams that whacked some incompetent opponent pretty hard.

Nebraska looked worse than expected and that's tough cause they weren't expected to look good

I would not give OSU a minus one/ at all.  That’s just me.

Sure, my ratings are for discussion, and I agree you have a solid point.  Maybe it's because I had higher expectations of their offense.

It's all relative to one's expectations.

Spent the day at the lake so didn't see any of the day games.

Horns were a little shaky early on but got into the groove.   Ewers was somewhat uneven but he hasn't played a game in what, almost three years?  Hopefully he can continue to shake off the rust and grow into the offense.  As expected, Bijan and Worthy are really special players.  Also got to see the emergence of a tight end at Texas for the first time in maybe a decade, hope that sticks.

Florida won a 1-possession game.

I agree with this. I know the response is going to be missing receivers, but I thought the oSU offense was very blah compared to what I expected to see. Maybe that’s a testament to the Irish D, but I expected a wow factor from the Buckeye offense and quite honestly, it looked a little like the 2021 Michigan offense.
