Yeah, I don't envision ever having $100,000 to spend on a spare vehicle.  $50K is pushing it but MAYBE I could make it happen once the kids are out of college.

I've never spent over $50 K and probably never will inflation adjusted.

I paid about $47 K on the 2014 CTS 4 cylinder (!).  It was pretty optioned out.

Most I've ever spent to date, is $39K on the F150.  It was 3 years old with 35K miles on it, completely optioned out as the highest trim package Ford sold at the time (the Platinum).  The original sticker price was around $65K.

The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon a close second at $37K.  It was also 3 years old but only had 15K miles on it.

I spent $78,720
my financial advisor made me do it.  I never dreamed I'd do that.  (well, maybe in a dream)
I drove nothing but practical vehicles from 1994 to 2024

Nah, for a daily driver. That Chevy my wife is getting has a book value of $25K. Plenty for a trade.

It's interesting, to me, how much of a factor "ease of egress" starts to be with vehicles when one gets old as Methusalah.  I would love to have a Corvette but don't relish getting in and out of the dang thing.  I also doubt the tires and wheels would do well around here.
