Absolutely gut-wrenching news to wake up to.

The gunman was from Mesquite, NV; a small town that I have spent quite a bit of time in.

No apparent link to terrorism so it's hard to understand.  The country needs to start funding mental health much much more and start locking up the insane again.  If that would have made a difference here I have no idea.

I'd also add this country needs to realize that disagreeing is ok and just because someone has a different opinion than you, doesn't make them morally bankrupt or trying to destroy you.   In general, this country is getting angrier and more hostile.   Sadly, I expect more of this..

We don't know the whole story yet. Let's not speculate. At least let's try.

To this I will agree. We just got done with the one of the most divisive 8 year periods in our short history, in my opinion. It's not stopping under current leadership, either. It's probably going to get worse. As in, much worse. We all need to try to help settle down.

I wasn't speculating on the motive.. just adding that we, as a country, have become more angry imo.   Regardless of the motive, the inability to deal with others in a constructive fashion is not a good trend.

What's terrible in the aftermath is that both sides are already posturing for a handle on the narrative.

There's no hoping for a break from this reality where the littlest thing has to turn political. Just exhausted.

The quick trigger to immediately politicize this tragedy by both sides, ESPECIALLY before all the facts are in, is absolutely disgusting.

It's sad, but access to guns is pretty easy, and so long as that's the case angry homicidal people can get them and this will continue to happen.  It's pretty much a bimonthly event at this point.

100 percent agree. That's why I asked for us to not speculate here.

WE should be in charge.

It's pretty tough to get the kinds of weapons he used. I'm really curious where they came from, and when.
