Buckeye on Buckeye violence.

Love it.
Yeah and HB isn't even in on this particular exchange.

Some hostages released by Russia. Includes the former US marine and WSJ writer who both got a lot of pub.

Haven’t seen what was given up, but their return is a generally good thing worth celebrating.

I do like the film, but honestly I equate the katana more with Kill Bill than Pulp Fiction.

But the actual reason I have one, is that one of my best friends went on a college architecture trip to Japan several decades ago, and he bought this sword there.  But he didn't want his then-live-in-girlfriend and now wife to know he'd spent money on it, so he asked me to hold it for him.  I have no idea what his eventual plan for it was, but every time I ask him when he wants me to bring it back, he just smiles and shrugs and says "I guess it's yours now."  Which is fine with me, it looks cool on display in my office next to my giant set of Texas longhorns, but I really do feel bad that he's never gotten it back.

Anyway that's the story of utee94 and the katana.

BTW, in case you think I am being contrarian, I 100% agree with this phrasing.

Quote
If I'm a violent felon and prohibited from owning guns due to my rap sheet my decision of whether or not to carry is influenced by the chances that I'll get stopped.  As my chance of getting stopped goes up it becomes less advantageous to carry.  As my chance of getting stopped goes down it becomes more advantageous to carry.

Then there is a second-order snowball effect.  As more violent felons carry, that influences other violent felons and those adjacent to them to also carry because they feel the need to be able to protect themselves from the violent felons who are carrying.
The takeaway for me is the most likely victims of gun violence are violent felons. And in reality, the most likely victims in the spike of homicides have been violent felons. Draw your own conclusions on how much money we should spend stopping that.

Their aim usually is not more than 'spray and pray', meaning a lot of bystanders get shot too.

A lot of leaders "need to go", I think, but I'm against efforts by the US to get them gone.  Historically it hasn't worked that well when we get involved.

I doubt Maduro does go, they can protest and riot and whatever but he seems to have firm control over the security apparati there.

Exactly.

And yes, the people have to get it done, somehow. The same people who installed him (and Chavez) in the first place.

Once voted in like Chavez, they can be tough to pry loose.  They've had these fake elections for years now, and the head dude stays in.
