Congress could fix this with an amendment, but I doubt we will ever see another amendment. They have a hard enough time with ordinary legislation.

An amendment of course take more than just Congress.  They passed a fair number that never became law.

How would an amendment fix it? 

All this past week the first soul to greet me each morning at the jobsite is a seagull nesting her eggs in the gutters of a utility building beside where I park. I've been scattering broken saltine crackers near the building, worried she's not eating if she isn't venturing too far from her eggs. But if I get too close to try tossing bits of crackers, she squawks. After enough squawking a second seagull appeared and has remained beside her. One morning I saw them feeding each other.

Later I researched. Turns out Seagulls mate for life. They take turns incubating their eggs and they co-parent once the eggs are hatched. During breeding seasons mates will pair back up in March and April and build nest and lay eggs in May and June.

Very cool. Most years we have a bird that nests on the top of the wreath on our front door. This year there are 3 eggs (at least one of which has already hatched).

It's all well and good unless someone opens the door unexpectedly at night and mama bird heads for the light source (inside). Which leads to a frantic effort for me to extricate the terrified bird safely, and for my wife to console the 95 lb golden retriever and keep him safe from the 5 oz bird

An Amendment COULD in theory rescind the Second Amendment, in hole or in part.  Some gun rights folks would like the first half of it taken out, for example.

No question. But that's where an amendment starts. We'll never see another one.

I posted in the other thread we finally had lunch at the Cypress Street Pub.  We were out for a walk and I wanted to try something new, and the place I intended to go is closed for lunch, which is odd because it's Chinese.  We walked a bit more and finally strolled by the above.  They have a lot of shade, we sat under a ceiling fan, it was pretty nice, the music wasn't too loud, etc.

Food was pretty good, it was "brunch" and my wife liked hers, mine was solid.  I had a bloody mary which wasn't very good, too much worstershire for me.  They were moderately crowded and service was good.  It's about 1.5 miles from us, so a bit of a walk.

But good to have another solid option out there, most "sport bar" food here is boring, to me.

I did, I ordered their salmon eggs benedict, she had the ever popular avocado toast.

The other diners were pretty young, but this is a young neighborhood in the main.  

It ended up being $56 after tip.
