Ain't me, just read the national pundits.  Texas is toast.  No chance 'tall.

I'm certainly not nearly the sand bagger that UTee is, not remotely close.

Sandbagging bastages the lot of you, jockeying for position on the national stage after sleepy joe and the laughing hyena have been shown the door. Here's hoping the good guys from the North tOSU/ND - even the allegheny hillbillys will keep the haughty texas hordes from the hardware and restore order on our cherished grid irons

Texas needs two things to go their way to win. They need good Ewers and their defensive line needs to have consistent pressure yet not be fooled by the dump offs to the running backs. If either of those don’t happen, it won’t be a close game: if those two things happen, they’ll need a big player on special teams or turnover to go their way. Buckeyes are loaded and have too many weapons on offense otherwise.

I picked Texas to win the NC at the start of the season so I'll stick with that.  But it's hard to imagine the Buckeyes losing after the last two games.  IMO Texas has the edge when it comes to coaching and it will be a home game for them.

Ohio State  17
Texas         24

All in since 1969

The big question, IMHO, is whether or not they can keep it up.

They've kinda coasted after fast starts in the last two games:
  • Only outscored Tennessee 21-17 in the last three quarters
  • Outscored 21-7 by Oregon in the last half and change
Obviously it didn't matter since they jumped out to 21-0 and 34-0 leads so they could afford to coast but that will not go on forever.  At some point they are probably going to have a fight in the fourth quarter.  They haven't had that since the end of November and we all know how that worked out against a team nowhere near as good as any of the other three remaining in the CFP.

Well the good news for you is that Texas is absolutely awful in the 3rd quarter.  The MO lately has been to build up a decent first half lead, hang on through abysmal 3rd quarters, and then ice a game that's closer than it should have been, with maybe one good drive and some hero-ball defensive stops in the 4th.  Against ASU, the awfulness extended into the 4th quarter, and it required hero-ball in 2OT to win the game.

If the Horns aren't up by 10-17 at the half, it's unlikely Texas will win the game.

(Edited to Add: I don't think Texas will be up by 10 to 17 at the half, which is one reason why I don't think Texas is likely to win the game)
