Yes.  Of course.
I'm getting tired of explaining reality.  Just think what you want, I don't give a fuck.

I get amused (?) when some folks on FB or elsewhere start saying "Politician X is a centrist, or just barely left/right" which the individual is generally considered to be pretty solidly L/R.  I have no problem with such an OPINION, but clearly it basically reflects the views of the opinionator.  A person pretty far right would opine for example that Mitt Romney, aside from the dreaded RINO label, is a Leftist.  Anothehr person might claim he's a moderate, a bit right of "center", whatever center is.

I have mentioned before how different French politics are from ours, it can be eye opening, at least for me, when I can follow the language or they translate for me.  They love to talk about it, usually after dinner and with some good wine, which works for me.  I recall being with "cousins" in 2008 and they asked me if I thought Obama had a chance, I responded that he was clearly ahead in the polls and seemed to me very likely to win.  They nearly all said I was wrong, the US would never elect a black guy.  Their image of the US is ... affected by Hollywood quite a bit.

I was talking with another French guy visiting and staying down the hall from us, we had him to dinner a couple times this month.  He's pretty despondent over their choices, well more than pretty.  Nobody likes Macron apparently, he's "elitist" and can't seem to appeal to "the folks", but the alternatives, to our friend, are well outside the Pale.  That election upcoming will be interesting, although the French President has quite a bit more power than ours.

Anyway, I think the Democrats need to find another candidate, probably Newsom, somehow.

Newsom would get obliterated in November.

Two things that seem to be an aid to Presidential candidates are being tall and having a full head of hair.  He has both, not necessarily better than Trump of course.  A third thing is sounding eloquent to some degree and forceful.  And yes, maybe a few voters actually examine policy proposals, but they are fairly rare.

I disagree.  He's not a thousand years old and has a limber mind.  He'd remind all of us that you don't have to be 100 to run for president.
Any 50 year old chosen at random would look great between here and November.

Unless that person is comparing his policies in office with what the expectations were of him during a campaign beforehand.

I think you could go down a checklist of your making and compare what people thought Obama was going to do/be and what he actually did in office.

Some people are able to consider the masses and not just themselves.  It's neat.

What does Newsom have to run on?

Only a few states want to be like California. It's a hot mess.

He got the unaffordable healthcare act done. That's something (and bad).
