Notre Dame would be a great fit in the Big Ten.  ND has huge fan base, they're local, they have big media money, great football tradition, high end academics, AAU member, rivals within the Big Ten...all make ND a perfect fit.  Having said that, I'd like to see them request membership only to have Michigan black ball them again.
IMHO, ND is NOT a great fit because their academics are not up to our standards.

You are obviously referring to undergrad academics and ND is very strong there, they'd be one of the best in the B1G but their graduate programs are VERY weak by B1G standards.

thought Dan Lanning would just jump to SEC soon as he could.

with Oregon joining the B1G with UCLA, Washington, and USC and the playoff going to 12 wonder if Lanning winds up staying put for the long haul in Oregon now.

Oregon is a great place to be HC.  You have enormous financial support, and relatively low expectations.

Matt Rhule was commended for speaking about academics

it's not about academics

it's about football $$$

I really don't get talk about academics related to college football unless your football team is bad.

From the Badger 247 Board:

Quote
“Just to get this far, they have overcome insane odds. In the US, there are just over a million players at the high school level. Of those, 73,712 make it to the NCAA level, representing just 7.3% of the talent pool. At any one time, just over 16,000 are draft eligible, which is only 1.6% of that college player pool. And then only 259 players will be drafted. That is a minuscule 0.016% of the draft-eligible NCAA pool. It is awe-inspiring when you think of it.

Having already been in the select 0.01% of the top 1.6% of the top 7.3% of the nation, the chosen players might be dismayed to learn that only 30% of those drafted will ever make it onto an NFL roster.

Of course, this number is skewed and isn’t a straight line across the board. The players taken in the first and second rounds will definitely be on the opening day roster, barring some unforeseen injury or something. But the players taken in the sixth and seventh rounds may have only a 10% or 15% chance, at least in the first year or two. When you factor in that the average career in the NFL is only three years, then you understand the high attrition rate in the sport.”

true but I thought being stuck in Pac would ultimately make him leave. obviously Oregon's fortunes have changed dramatically now being in the B1G. seems like going forward if you're not in the SEC or the B1G you're basically a poor.
